Microneedling

Microneedling, also known, as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive,
skin rejuvenating procedure that is comfortable for all skin types.
This treatment reduces the appearance of stretch marks, scars, sun damage and signs of aging.

Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

We perform microneedling using the Skin Pen® manufactured by Bellus Medical, the only FDA approved microneedling device for safer and more effective results with minimal to no downtime. The Skin Pen uses tiny little acupuncture-like needles to make micro-channels that release growth factor which in turn stimulates collagen and elastin production. When the channels are open, our protocol includes application of anti-oxidants (Vitamin A, C and E), growth factor and anti-bacterial masks that helps to transform cell metabolism for skin rejuvenation.

reduce the appearance of stretch marks, scars, sun damage and signs of aging.

How Microneedling works

Microneedling is done by a medical esthetician who first applies topical anesthetic to complete the procedure in about one hour. Immediately after the procedure, patients should expect to be red for a day and can experience minor swelling for up to 2 days. Your skin will be more sun-sensitive so we provide you with an effective sunblock to minimize risk of a burn. Depending on which products we apply to the micro-channels when they are open, your skin can look and feel “flakey” for a few days afterwards but then it will feel tight and appear more vibrant. The number of treatments can vary for optimal results which usually aren’t apparent for several months. Typically, 3-6 treatments four to six weeks apart are recommended for skin rejuvenation to see the improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. For acne or other scars, the protocol can be every two to three weeks for 6-8 treatments. The reduction in the scar’s appearance in color and smoother texture can take 2-3 months after the series to see a real difference. The cost for microneedling ranges from $300-$500 per treatment depending on the size of the area treated. Please note that microneedling is usually not covered by insurance.

After Microneedling

“After years of drinking from straws, I began to see more and more deep lines on my upper lip. My mother was a smoker and looked prematurely aged around her mouth. I hated feelings like I was destined to follow her footsteps. Fillers weren’t my thing and surgery wasn’t either. After five microneedling treatments, I began to see a big difference with fewer deep lines and tighter skin all around my mouth. My downtime was minimal and was surprised when I could go to work on the second day with no one questioning what I had done. Now I have touch ups treatments every six months to keep the results I got going forward.”
