What are Chemical Peels?
Depending on the mutual goals discussed between patient and your practitioner, the best chemical peel will be decided to help you achieve your skin objectives. A medical chemical peel is typically applied to the skin with solutions of varying concentrations such as salicylic acid, TCA, retinoic acid and/or glycolic acid. The chemical solution works both on the skin’s epidermis and dermis layers. These solutions will cause your skin to exfoliate (shed dead cells) for anything from 2-7 days enabling new skin growth to appear. Some peels include lightening agents to reduce hyperpigmentation at the same time.

How Chemical Peels work
Most medium depth peels have minimal to no discomfort and can be done in 30 minutes as an office procedure. The cost varies on the size of the area being treated and the type of ingredient chemicals being used. A typical peel cost ranges from $300-$450 per peel. To see the optimal best results, we usually recommend 3 peels a month apart and then one after 4-6 months. Some peels have you doing additional home application for the first 24-48 hours to optimize the outcomes. Increased sun sensitivity is a factor post peel. Your esthetician will propose the best sunscreen for your skin type to give you maximum protection.
